Celebrating Youth Month, Where Saving Is a Superpower!

April is almost here, and so is Credit Union Youth Month – a nationwide celebration that’s all about helping kids and teens build strong financial habits from the start. At WyHy, we believe it's never too early to start learning about money, and Youth Month is the perfect time to turn lessons into fun.

Whether you're raising a future financial guru or just want to help your kiddo understand where money really comes from (spoiler: it’s not just “the card”), we’ve got you covered.

Start Small, Dream Big

WyHy encourages our young members to earn money through chores, part-time jobs, or even creative hustle (lemonade stand, anyone?). The idea? Teach the value of a dollar by letting them earn it.

Once they've got it, we help them make the most of it, whether that’s saving for something special, donating to a good cause, or learning to wait for something worth it.

Join the Fun with WyHy Bucks

During April, kids and teens can earn WyHy Bucks by:

  • Opening a Youth Savings Account

  • Opening a Teen Independence Account

  • Starting a 15-Month Smart Saver Certificate (we’ll match up to $50 on the initial deposit!)

  • Making deposits of $25 or more into their Youth/Independence account

  • Entering our Coloring Contest

Bucks can be cashed in for fun prizes or even a chance to win a $100 deposit at the end of the month.

Real-Life Lessons = Lifelong Skills

We're not just talking piggy banks and penny jars — we're teaching how to:

  • Set savings goals

  • Spend wisely

  • Give generously

  • Practice patience

  • Use different payment methods responsibly

These aren't just “money skills.” They're life skills. And we’re here to help our young members grow into financially savvy adults who understand the why behind the what.
